How does osteopathic treatment for your dog proceed?
Osteopathic treatment doesn’t begin with techniques, but with listening.To your story. To your dog’s history. And especially to what his body is showing today.
Intake and examination
We start by discussing your dog’s symptoms, their progression, and any previous examinations or treatments.
This is followed by a manual examination during which I:
- assess the mobility of the joints and spine
- feel for tension in muscles and fascia
- observe how your dog stands, moves, and reacts
This is always done in a position that makes your dog feel as comfortable as possible. Rest and safety are paramount.
The treatment
The osteopathic treatment is performed exclusively with gentle, targeted manual techniques.
I work with my hands to:
- relieve loss of movement
- reduce tension
- create space for the body
In addition to mobilizing joints and vertebrae, I use techniques that work on muscles and fascia, such as trigger point techniques and fascial release.
Each treatment is fully tailored to your dog’s current state of well-being and tolerance. Some dogs relax quickly, others need more time. Both are normal.
I guide the body; I don’t force anything.
Support with laser therapy
For severe muscle tension, trigger points, or delayed recovery, laser therapy can be used as additional support.
Laser aids the natural recovery process by re-energizing cells and can contribute to pain relief, improved blood circulation, and tissue relaxation.
Always complement manual therapy, never replace it.
What can you expect after the treatment?
Your dog’s body needs time to process the changes.
- Your dog may temporarily feel a little tired
- Sometimes there’s slight tenderness
- You’ll often see more relaxation or smoother movement
It’s recommended that you give your dog plenty of rest in the days following treatment. Regular walks are fine, but it’s best to postpone intensive exercise or sports.
The effect of the treatment depends on several factors, such as the nature and duration of the complaint, your dog’s age, and medical history.
Sometimes one treatment is sufficient. In other cases, multiple sessions are necessary to gradually bring the body back into balance.
Where does the treatment take place?
Treatment can take place:
- at my practice (preferred)
- at your home (if practical within the schedule and if the dog can be placed on a table)
I have a small caravan set up as a practice space, where I can treat dogs and cats in peace and quiet.

Preventive guidance
Since prevention is better than cure, it can be helpful to have your dog checked preventatively once or twice a year.
This way, minor tensions can be caught early, before they cause problems.
