Equine osteopathy combined with Jack Meagher sportsmassage
Gentle, deep support for your horse's body
A horse that can move freely feels safe in its body. When that safety disappears, compensations, tension, and ultimately complaints arise. In my work as an equine osteopath, I don’t start from the complaint itself, but from the story the body tells.
Equine osteopathy is a manual therapy that, just like with humans, is based on anatomy, neurology, embryology, and physiology. The horse is always viewed as a whole. A problem rarely manifests itself only where it is palpable. Movements, tension, and blockages affect the entire body. That’s why I always look for the underlying cause of the complaint.
The spine as the key to movement
The spinal column forms the central axis of the body. The nerves that control muscles and organs radiate from the vertebrae. When a vertebra loses its natural mobility, it can lead to muscle tension, reduced blood flow, and impaired nerve function. By treating these blockages gently and purposefully, the body regains the space it needs to heal itself.
Osteopathy combined with Jack Meagher sports massage
To deepen this process, I often combine osteopathy with Jack Meagher sports massage. This massage focuses on specific trigger points in the muscles. Trauma, stress, or prolonged strain can cause muscles to cramp. The horse will compensate, often without it being immediately apparent.
Jack Meagher sports massage helps release this deep-seated tension, allowing joints, tendons, and kinetic chains to function freely again. The power of this massage lies in its precision. Deep, focused pressure on precisely the right spot improves blood circulation, relaxes muscle tissue, and noticeably improves comfort and movement quality.
Support with laser therapy
If necessary, I support the treatment with laser therapy for horses. Laser therapy stimulates the natural healing process by providing cells with extra energy. This can reduce pain, improve blood circulation, and accelerate muscle and joint recovery.
Who is this approach suitable for?
This combination of equine osteopathy and sports massage is suitable for horses with:
- restricted movement or recurring muscle tension
- reduced performance or changing behavior
- recovery after injury or intensive training
- need for preventive support
Do you notice that your horse moves less smoothly, builds up tension more quickly, no longer feels comfortable under the saddle or is no longer completely himself?
Please feel free to contact us for an osteopathic treatment or a preventive check-up.
